An idea of which probably isint original but...
Not sure what most people think but I feel that the weekend events are one of the key reasons why I continue to play guild wars, so heres my idea.
I was thinking about the notion of Anet providing us with one 1 month were we as the players have the choice of which weekend events takes place within that month. Whether it be 2 pve and 2 pvp events. (Lets make it fair to both pve and pvp)
Example, a simple voting system on there website which has every single event which has been done in gw, of which players have a time scale of 2-4 weeks to vote on.
Every player gets to vote on just one of these events and the highest 2 pve and 2 pvp gets to go on a particular month (since there are 4 weekends to a month usually) say for arguments sake this September?
At least this will give the guild wars fan base some kind of control over which events take place at least for one month, heck why dont we try for 2 months and see how people feel about the idea.
It wouldent hurt to try would it Anet?
What say you people?

Wasn't XTH a simple voting system?

While I do actually like your idea, Anet can't seem to get much right lately. I don't think now is the time to be asking for anything new. It's more the time to demand that everything work.

With respect XTH is a slightly more complex system then a simple "click and vote for which event you want for one month" on there official site.
In addition, all the coding for all the current events which have been done in gw is already in place, it just needs to be "implemented", comparing a simple vote to XTH well to put it bluntly is incomparable.

Wouldn't everyone just vote for "increased Faction" weekend?

Agreed. Much like skill balances, people are greedy and self-centered.

Pretty sure everyone would vote for the triple dye drop weekend. I'm down to a half a stack of orange and blue, need more.

If you let them choose, they will go for the one that will give them most monetary or titular benefit, so it's pretty pointless.

...what?!?!
If people didn't have inclination to vote for which they'd like to see, THEN it'd be pointless.

honestly if a system like this was implimented it would be a pve vs pvp fest with neither winning over time.

Not sure what your trying to say there but the way I see it, it should be 2 PvE events and 2 PvP events for one month, so its balanced out neither is the winner, just balanced between PvE and PvP.

i think what i tried to say is that it would be a big popularity contest. i think that they got a decent system/rotation that already balances it enough without the use of player voting(which would take an alful lot of work to make) .

What I mean is that we'll get the same weekend again and again until people max a certain title.
That's why it's pointless.

The point is though that it wont be the same weekend event because you cant have the same event twice over or 4 times in a row, so in essence, the 2 most popular PvE events and 2 PvP events for one month.

so its gunna be the same 4 events EVERY MONTH??? womp womp.......i can see all these people getting your max titles then quitting, while there wont be any new players becuz they will find this too easy to get what they want, realise there isnt any value to it, and not play. players need the balance and randomness of weekend events, dont need a vote and choose website once a week for an event that they probably wont get, leading to dissapointment and quitting.

Firstly my suggestion was to try this for 1 month not every month, secondly and according to gw.com there are a million + players, so you might be suprised what comes up as an event from one weekend to another.
Just wanted to see if players would like to have an opportunity to have more control over an event for one month rather then what were getting already.
